THIS ENVIRONMENTAL ARTIST
TRAVELS THE WORLD IN SEARCH OF NATURES MYSTERIES, OFTEN FINDING A FRACTURED STATE OF RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN HUMANKIND AND NATURE.
Lukas Felzmann is an fine artist, photographer and educator. Born and raised in Zürich, Switzerland he has been living and working in San Francisco since 1981. Felzmann's dramatically powerful images provoke a internal conversation of where we are presently as guardians of the planet.
Current themes include our relationship to the landscape, and how we internalize and attempt to control nature. Further themes are an investigations into the workings of systems, how there might be control without hierarchy (Swarm), and the degradation of the environment through
plastic and other materials (Gull Juju).
At times shocking, always beautiful–even in the dire state of disfunction, Felzmann's work is engaging and mesmerizing. His series of books are collector pieces for every environmentalist at heart.
Lucas Felzmann teaches photography at Stanford University in California.
