Why do we all like organic plant and fruit nutrients in our beauty products? Well.

 

it has been proven that what we ingest to make us whole and healthy should be used topically to heal from the outside in. And instinctively we are attracted to the purer products, the ones with the fresh, true scents of Spring flowers or a herbal garden. Or with a texture that melts and dissolves rather than leaving a strange film on your hands or in your hair.

There is enough available information out now on which main toxins in cosmetics and hygiene products to stay clear of, sulphates and parabens being the most obvious ones. But there are many more. Most health conscious people are craving simplicity and transparency when it comes to making shopping decisions. So how do we get back to simplicity and basics, for our pockets and our sanity?

As evolved thinkers and inquirers, we also need to look at every aspect of our choices. We consider the sustainable element that goes with the production and purchase of non-biodegradable and harmful commercial products, but what about 100% pure plant products? It raises the question of 'are we living in harmony with the planet by consuming more than we need, and all for the sake of vanity'?

You've been looking at that list every week and now we are about to open your eyes to the precious spa ingredients that have been hiding right under your nose.

The benefits of an organic grocery list are many; We are minimizing our spending by using one product for several functions. Our lifestyle becomes lighter and less stressful because we are not anguishing over the confusion of labels. We reconnect with natures abundant resources and find new ways to use them. We are also offsetting our carbon footprint by not buying as many containers.

To help you get back to basics we comprised a series of grocery list beauty and pampering items. After doing some conscious shopping you may be pleasantly surprised to find you have money left over for other fun stuff.

LEMONS

Benefits; Lemons are an amazing source of calcium, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium -- minerals and antioxidants. Some of the many health benefits of this fruit when consumed; are improvements in the appearance and condition of our hair, skin and nails. Its excellent for hydrating; adding lemon juice to water with a pinch a sea salt provides electrolytes to the body and helps to retains moisture in excessive heat. This acidic fruit turns alkaline when ingested and stabilizes the stomach's PH levels, which strengthens the immune system.

Face peel

As a fruit lemons are acidic, so a small amount of the juice applied directly to your face acts as a mild peel. Directions: Squeeze lemon juice into a bowl and apply to your face with a sea sponge or cotton ball, leave for 10 minutes then rinse. These light applications once a week will brighten your complexion and serve as an antibacterial for blemishes and dark spots. It will also balance oily skin. Do not apply to dry skin.

HONEY

Benefits: Perhaps the tastiest natural medicine, its healing and antibacterial properties not only fight infections and aids tissue repair, but also helps reduce inflammation and scarring. In its raw form-vitamins present in honey are B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid and certain amino acids. The minerals found in honey include calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. If you suffer from seasonal allergies raw local honey combined with daily doses of bee pollen builds your immune system and rid you of these allergies.

Spa Recipe

Face cleanser

Directions: Just spread honey onto your face, rub it in as you would any cleaner and then rinse off. When water is applied to honey it instantly melts away, there is no sticky residue left behind. And your skin is left feeling silky and clean.

Body scrub

Directions: 1/4 cup Sea salt, 1/4 cup Epson salts, 1/4 cup coconut oil or Olive oil, I tbsp honey and 1/4 tsp Vanilla powder or 5 drops of your favorite essential oil (Lavender, Rose, Ylang Ylang) Blend together with a wooden spoon. Voila your scrub awaits you!! You come out of the of the shower feeling clean, refreshed and moisturized.
