Madly is a collection of six passionate and provocative films from ascendant and iconic directors presenting a bleeding-heart, gut-wrenching, pulse-pounding, bittersweet, inconsolable, hysterical, heartbreaking, ecstatic, ridiculous and sublime global state-of-the-union of love. Remember when you fell so hard for someone and it hurt so bad?! This movie will remind you of that, and take you on a whirlwind adventure by four remarkable directors: Mia Wasikowska, Anurag Kashyap, Gael García Bernal, Sion Sono, Sebastian Silva, Natasha Khan.
Rolling Stone magazine says it's a “must see”.
“What is this thing called love?” A young man asks in Anurag Kashyap’s searing Clean Shaven, one of the shorts in Madly. That was the question we wanted to seek new answers to: What is the meaning of love in the 21st century? We were fully aware that a gazillion films had already been made on this enigmatic subject and yet there are still dark corridors that need illumination, obvious contemporary themes we felt had not been explored. We enlisted some of the most electrifying talent in the film world, an eclectic range of directors we admired to approach the subject with a fresh, global perspective and create an unforgettable film.
Madly has been selected to open the International Narrative Competition Section of the TriBeCa Film Festival next month. Check out the trailer and screening sessions.
