Some factsSpirulina is a blue/green algae one of natures most abundant and ancient sources of nourishment for humans, and given the title of ‘Superfood’ by nutritionists world wide. It is reported to surpass the ability of any single grain, herb or plant in its extraordinarily high nutrient level, with the capacity of producing twenty times the amount of protein as that of soybeans. It is abundant in vitamins, minerals, simple carbohydrates, lipids and biologically active enzymes, due to the algae’s nutritious soft cell wall, these nutrients are readily available to the body. Also the body uses only a small amount of energy to convert this superfood into fuel.

Blue/green algae has been found in various cultures dating back to the ancient Aztecs of Mexico. They used Spirulina as a staple food. It is recorded that these native people gathered a ‘blue mud’ from lake Texoco and made a type of sun-dried chip from it. More currently in Japan physicians routinely prescribe Spirulina as an approved medicinal treatment. It is known to treat diabetes, anemia and malnutrition.

SPIRULINA PUDDING

Ingredients:

1 cup of your favorite nut milk
2 tbs organic chia seeds
1/2 apple
10 blueberries
1 tps Spirulina

Steps:

1. Blend mylk and chia seeds by patiently stirring them together until it forms a gelatinous consistency, this ensures that the chia seeds are softened and ready to be eaten.
2. Pour into a high powered blender and add Spirulina, apple and blueberries, and blend on high speed.
3. Pour into a cup and enjoy.
